The lovely Emma Block will be celebrating the launch of her book Tea And Cake Jubilee style at King's Cross  this Friday 3pm until 10pm. There will be lots of tea and cake, only fitting for such an occasion, gorgeous goodie bags and a chance to treat yourself to a copy of the illustrated book. The event is also on facebook which you can have a look at and also features some of Emma's delightful illustrations. Pop down and have a lovely afternoon ♥ ♥ ♥

FRIDAY FIX: ICE CREAM

It's Friday! It's sunny! It's time for ice cream people! Lovely creamy whippy from an ice cream van or the hard scoop dairy kind which comes in amazing flavours! Super lovely for a summer's afternoon in the garden, park or beach. It's making me want to just draw ice creams! Oohh lovely weekend project there then! Hope you're all having a fantabulous Friday, really hope you all get out in the sunshine this weekend too, wherever you are, whatever you're doing! What's your favourite ice cream? Happy Saturday lovelies! Hope you're all having a relaxing weekend! I wanted to share with you some illustrated lovelies before I get snuggled down to watch a Saturday afternoon film (Saturdays are for super cool films like The Lost Boys, Super 8, retro Disney) They are all available as prints in my etsy shop to hang on pink bedroom walls, or keep you company in your studio. I know there's two of Lana Del Rey but you gotta love her. Have you listened to Born To Die yet? #amaze

Out & About: Go Figure: New Fashion Illustration Exhibition at the LCF

This looks like a great exhibition, featuring Lesley Barnes, friend of T&C; amongst other amazing fashion illustrators. 'Ligaya Salazar, contemporary curator at the Victoria & Albert Museum, follows on from her celebrated retrospective of Yohji Yamaoto’s career with this exhibition at London College of Fashion’s Fashion Space Gallery.'

"The exhibition brings together more than sixty works from thirteen different fashion illustrators who work in a variety of media, from the digital to the hand-drawn via the physical. Each of these illustrators comes from a very different background, from fashion design, photography to animation. We wanted to reflect what is really going on in the field rather than get caught up in a debate around which way of making is better than another way."

FRIDAY FIX: FRESH FLOWERS

This month I'm totally loving flowers, fresh ones that sit prettily outside florists, market stalls, people's tiny gardens along our terraced street, wild ones in urban locations, fragrant ones that colour the local parks. I bought some not so long ago and they lasted ages and made me feel much better in a matter of seconds. I've also been planting some in our own little garden this week so I'm hoping pretty soon they will come out and say hello. I love the fact you can take inspiration from them, rooms can be brightened up with the smallest vase (or tea cup, or even jam jar) of flowers, they're super pretty in your hair, I love to draw them and their amazing colours are what we copy for pastel coloured clothes and even rad locks. So cheers, flowers! You're pretty cool.

New work by Fritha!

Hello! did you miss me? its been a while..
WELL I'm pleased to say I am back! My little boy is now almost five months old (crazy!) and I'm finding time for illustrating again. Maybe not as much as before granted but a little here a little there, life is good!
I've been working on a few different commissions lately and am pleased to be able to share my latest one here with you all. It was so much fun working on this wedding invite, i couldn't help smiling when they told me penguins were a must!

New Work from Rachel! Nonsensical Spam Comment Project

Rachel L here; I was inspired by Abby & Kay posting their new work so I thought I'd better get to it and share what I've been working on!

This is a new piece from my ongoing 'Nonsensical Spam Comment Project' - where I illustrate strange and nonsensical pieces of spam that my blog gets! This one has been a particular favourite for a long time - "How absurd and delicious it is to be in love with somebody younger than yourself. Everybody should try it."

I was playing around with the colours and the type for a long time; still not entirely sure if it's finished but I'm quite pleased with it. The lady is from old vintage advert I bought at an ephemera fair and scanned in; so are quite a few other pieces in this actually, for example the overlaid ticket and the line of music in the bottom right corner. It's nice to get some new work done! What have you all been working on?

Hope everyone has had a great bank holiday weekend? We've been busy sorting out behind the scenes of our Tea & Crayons Etsy shop and we're pleased to say it's now open for business!

Over the next few weeks all of us will be adding signed prints, original artwork and other goodies for sale; so you can now buy from all 6 of us in one happy place! At the moment we've got A4 & A5 prints from Rachel L for sale, soon we'll have sections for all of us!

Exciting News: Tea & Crayons at UNCONTAINED, Shoreditch

Really excited about this: We're pleased to announce that we are taking part in UNCONTAINED, a 30-day pop-up event in the 55DSL store in the Boxpark, Shoreditch, London!

"In June and July, ShellsuitZombie is taking over the 55DSL store in BOXPARK, Shoreditch, and asking thirty creative individuals, groups and companies to take a day each."

We'll be taking over on TUESDAY JUNE 5th (That's Jubilee day!) We'll be hosting a Jubilee-themed Tea Party on the bank holiday tuesday; expect cups of tea, cake, drawing on the walls, an exhibition of our work (with the opportunity to buy prints!) and running illustration workshops/portfolio reviews for up and coming illustrators. Make sure you pop down if you're in the area to meet us face to face and get involved!

FRIDAY FIX: QUOTES

Cheesy as quotes might be, I kind of love that. I think sometimes a silly hand written note can be the most inspirational thing, it can keep you truly motivated or just make you smile. I watched Talledega Nights this week and loved the silliness of the quotes they stood by and basically built their life on 'If you ain't first, you're last' and 'Shake and bake!' I love having little post its, old receipts, scraps of paper with silly sayings on, they remind us not to take things too seriously, or they can have a powerful, inspirational effect. I also thought the hand drawn type was pretty effin' cool &hearts;
